Cross Country News : 2011 / 2012 season

The League fixtures for the coming season are as follows and I would like to express my thanks to the host clubs that have agreed to organise the events. N.B. Travel details and race timetable are to be provided in good time before each relevant fixture..
League Secretary: Arthur Daley, 158 Fieldcourt Gardens, Quedgeley, Gloucester, GL2 4UA

PLEASE VIEW THE LATEST LEAGUE STANDINGS AFTER 3 RACES here

N.B. You will note that the second fixture is much earlier than advised in my last letter. Changes in the National and regional fixture lists have caused this change.

This arrangement has the advantage of providing County based Cross Country competition near the beginning of each month.

ENTER THE LEAGUE RACES IN ADVANCE - A SPECIAL PRE-RACE ENTRY FORM is now available here. Please encourage your members to use this method rather than enter on the day. The discount is 25% and a block entry makes our administration easier so we all benefit.

COUNTY CROSS CHAMPIONSHIPS (7 JANUARY 2012)
GAAA SELECTION STRATEGY FOR THE INTER-COUNTIES CC AT COFTON PARK ON 10 MARCH 2012

LATEST: Directions to Plock Court and course map(s) for the County CC Champs on 7 January 2012 here.

Teams for the inter-counties championships at Cofton Park, Birmingham will be selected based on the results from the county champs. As in previous years the majority of the team for the inter-counties champs will come from those finishing highly in the county champs.

However, we do have a limited amount of leeway to select athletics who are unable to compete at the county champs for some reason or other. If you have athletes affected in this way please let me have their details, including recent performances up to the end of this year, or ask them to contact me themselves and they will be included for consideration when the selection panel sits.

If you could ask anyone please with inter-counties aspirations to fill the form in fully, that would be a great help, as most of the information has to be included on our entry form submitted to the inter-counties people as well as assisting me in contacting people - if there are any short notice changes to the arrangements or of any team changes that could mean we have a place for someone entered as one of our reserves.

Thanks for your help with this and I hope we shall have a good turnout despite the clash with other events that weekend. Best wishes to you all for Christmas and the New Year.

Mick Morris, County Secretary
